			<description> You are invited to participate in the Delaware State Animal Response Team (DE-SART) Summit. The Summit is a two-day structured planning workshop led by three members of the North Carolina SART, all of whom have strong emergency management/agriculture backgrounds.      The Summit goals are to further develop and delineate our animal response capabilities and to bring additional stakeholders into the process in order to create the animal response infrastructure needed to effectively respond to emergencies/disasters in Delaware, with initial focus on companion animals to ensure Delaware&amp;rsquo;s compliance with the PETS Act.         The DE-SART Summit details:  Where: Dover  Downs Conference  Center, Ballroom C  When: November 14-15, 2007, 8:00 AM &amp;ndash; 5:00 PM  Cost: None &amp;ndash; This workshop is funded by PetSmart Charities and the Homeland Security Grant Program.  Meals: Continental breakfast, lunch, and morning/afternoon breaks will be provided.     Your full participation is critical to the success of the Summit. We have invited participants from State and local governments, non-profit agencies, for profit businesses, law enforcement, and the military, all of whom would have a role in planning for and ensuring an appropriate response to address the needs of animals and their owners in disaster. Invitees include representatives from Delaware Departments of Agriculture, Emergency Management, Health and Social Services, Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Education, Office of Management and Budget, Justice; county and local emergency managers; the DE Veterinary Medical Association; the SPCAs, Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, and other animal welfare organizations; the DE State Fair; the American Red Cross; the DE National Guard; the DE Fire Service; animal-related businesses; and others. 			<description>Our Annual Winter Technician Meeting will be held again this year at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover, Delaware.  It will be December 12th from 8 am to 5pm. All technicians, assistants, students, and support staff are welcome!Alison Gottlieb BS, RVT, VTC(ECC) will be presenting this year. Her topics will include:Feline FocusThis lecture discusses everything related to the kitties. Lecture covers the range from making them comfortable in the clinic; to caring for them during an emergency. Includes monitoring and specific feline nutrition needs.Pain Management A strong focus on recognizing pain as well as the tools to appropriately treat pain.  The ethical aspects of pain, multimodal therapies and treating chronic vs. acute pain are covered.
